Andrew Hall and Peter Bradfield are both well known in the old car world not only for their integrity but also as lifelong enthusiasts. They had already worked together for many years with some of the great names in the business before starting their own company in October 2000.
Andrew has long associations with all areas of historic motorsports, laying the blame for this firmly at his Father’s feet. His introduction to "proper cars” was through the VSCC starting with an Austin Seven and most recently with a "Chain Gang” Frazer Nash, notably winning the Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone in 2000. Other cars competed in include The Richard Bolster Special, 8C Alfa, SSK Mercedes, Bugatti Type 43, Cooper Bristol, Porsche 911 and a Ferrari 250 GTO. Reflecting on the launch of the company Andrew says that he had always wanted to do his own thing before he was 40. Concentrating on "the business” means motor sport was meant to sidelined for a while although there have been appearances in 2004 at Historic Le Mans, the Tour Auto and Laguna Seca.
Peter says that although he is already just over 40 he had always wanted to have his "name above the door”. Well known on the vintage scene, Peter extensively raced his pre-war Bentley with success on the track and has also enjoyed competing in many international events such as the Mille Miglia and Tour Auto in more modern machinery. Recent outings include racing a Porsche 911, Healey 3000 and Ferrari GTO His versatility allows an equal level of incompetence whether at the wheel of a Ferrari 512, Austin 7 or Sunbeam Rapier (See ‘Out-takes’). His style was once described as having ‘more enthusiasm than skill’. He too probably races rather more than is good for the bank balance. "At least I didn’t crash on the Tour Auto, unlike Hall”.
While Andrew and Peter may not take themselves too seriously they take their business very seriously indeed.
